Slap your MacBook. It slaps back.
It feels the hit through the motion sensor inside your MacBook. Smack it, rub the trackpad, squish it harder, and your sound plays.
Apple Silicon MacBooks only · macOS 14+

Slap
A smack on the chassis, felt by the built-in accelerometer. Shouting does nothing.
Trackpad rub
Shake the cursor back and forth and it reacts.
Force squish
Press harder on the trackpad and the sound bends with your finger.
SmackBook plays whatever you give it. Make the sound once and it plays every time.
Record 3 seconds
Then pitch it up or down and add cathedral echo, right in the app.
Drop in any file
mp3, wav, m4a, aac or aiff. Drag it in or paste with ⌘V.
Use a video clip
Drop in an mp4 or mov and it plays the clip's sound.
Use sounds you made or have the rights to. What you load and who hears it is up to you. Acceptable use
Hide the menu-bar icon, arm it now or in 5 or 15 minutes, and walk away. A secret shortcut brings it back. It always stays in your Applications folder.
Only on Macs you own, or where the owner is in on it. Never on someone wearing headphones.
Privacy
Asks permission for
MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon running macOS 14 or later. iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio have no motion sensor.
Check your Mac
Open the Apple menu, then About This Mac. What does it say next to Chip?
Not at your Mac? MacBooks bought new from 2021 on are almost always Apple Silicon. Check before you buy.
The OG Trio
All 3 for €6.99, instead of €11.97 bought separately.
No. It filters out normal typing and only fires on a sharp hit to the chassis.
Pick Light, Medium or Firm. Light reacts to a gentle smack, so please don't punch your laptop.
No. Pay once, keep it forever, updates included.
Yes. Record 3 seconds right in the app with pitch and echo effects, drop in any mp3, wav or m4a file, or paste a video and we play its audio.
The app plays whatever you give it. Using a sound on your own Mac is your call, but you're responsible for having the rights to it, especially if you post a reel with it.
Every app needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 or later. PlugMac and SmackBook also need a MacBook, and Caught in 4K needs a camera. To check your chip, open the Apple menu, then About This Mac: if Chip says Apple M-something, you're set. Each app page shows exactly which Macs it works on.
Yes. We email your app and license key, so you can install it on your Mac whenever you like.
Yes. Every key works on 2 Macs, and you can move it any time.
No. Camera and mic are processed on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded and there are no ads or trackers in the apps.
Only what the trick needs. Caught in 4K asks for the camera. The microphone is used only while you record your own sound. Nothing asks for your files, contacts or location, and turning a trigger off stops it using that sensor.
Apps are delivered the moment you pay, so all sales are final. That's why every app shows exactly which Macs it works on. Charged twice or never got your key? We'll fix it or refund you.
